Mayflower Marina is a busy marina in Plymouth run by Sailport PLC. It offers both permanent and visitor berths all year round. Universal Fire And Security Ltd were engaged by Sailport PLC who run the marina to upgrade their closed circuit television system.
Following discussions and on acceptance of the proposal a Hikvision IP CCTV system was phased in. Using a hybrid DVR/NVR (Recording Unit) it was possible to retain existing cameras onto an enhanced recording unit whilst adding new IP cameras onto the system. The system was then upgraded over a period as funds were added into the budget to accommodate this.
Some of the older cameras on site were PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) units and although they had served their purpose over the years the new technology cameras offered an enhanced experience. One of the issues with a PTZ camera is that when you go to review the recorded footage it can often be frustrating as the camera hasn’t captured the event. Universal Fire And Security Ltd proposed and installed Hikvision PanoVu cameras. Basically they are a camera unit that houses four individual IP cameras but utilises one cable to transmit all four pictures to the recording unit.
Mayflower Marina now has four cameras in place of one in each of the original PTZ positions which allows all views they required to be covered and recorded at all times.
