When Dominos Pizza in the Westcountry wanted to relocate their headquarters into a shared building with a busy shop they knew that they had to plan their fire and security requirements carefully. Universal Fire And Security Ltd were involved at planning stage once they knew they had secured the building. The process started with a face-to-face meeting on site with the client, the building contractor and ourselves.
The consultation on site started with the functionality required from the systems that needed to be installed. Once this was decided the conversation then moved onto timescales for the installation process. The building had previously been a building society and was now going to house a very busy pizza outlet and office accommodation. There was considerable adjustments to layout and building work to be carried out.
When installing a fire or security system on a premises undergoing this kind of transformation there is a need for multiple visits by the installation team consisting of: –
- First Fix Visits (to put cabling in place) – ideal if done in one go, but not normally possible
- Second Fix Visits (to install hardware onto the end of cables)
- Commissioning Visits (to spark the equipment into life and test)
- Handover Visits (to train the customer in the use of the systems)
Universal Fire And Security Ltd had worked with the client and the builders on numerous occasions so there was a confidence and mutual respect that everyone would do their job and communicate so that the end result matched the expectation of the initial consultation.
A new Fire Alarm System, Intruder Detection System, Closed Circuit Television System, Access Control System, Intercom System and Fire Extinguishers were provided. The client likes to place all Fire and Security disciplines with Universal Fire And Security Ltd in the knowledge that they are saving multiple attendance fees attracted from using separate companies.
All systems were installed and provided within timescale and handed to the client prior to opening. The grand opening of the site went well and the premises is extremely busy, even more so during lockdown months.
