We were commissioned to assist a local Primary School with an access issue for their car park and pedestrian entrances.
The Car Park was being used by visitors and parents as a thoroughfare into the school grounds. As this was a ‘working car park’ with members of staff and delivery drivers coming into park there was a health and safety issue. The Car Park had only double gates and no way to segregate vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
The gates were left open during the day as there was no way to contact the school for access which meant there was also a safeguarding issue for the Trust running the school.
The solution was to automate the gates using a set of CAME 24V Axo arms. Safety devices were added to the gates to ensure compliance with BS EN12453:2017:A1-2021 under the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. The chosen method was Solution D and infra-red safety beams plus anti-crush strips were added and tested.
A Paxton10 card system was added to allow staff to enter the premises with a Paxton Entry intercom unit sited outside the property to allow visitors and delivery drivers to announce their arrival and be safely let in.
A newly formed pedestrian entrance, also with Paxton Entry was installed to ensure vehicle and pedestrian traffic didn’t mix.
Signage and a warning light were added to make sure that people are aware the gates are automated. Egress from the Car Park is via a wireless proximity pad on the floor which is triggered when a car drives over it.
China Fleet Country Club has in excess of 5000 members with differing forms of membership which in turn gives different access to facilities at different times.
Part of the solution came by controlling access to the main club in the form of a set of speed gates. Aesthetics was high on the list of criteria, followed by functionality and ease of use. Universal Fire And Security chose the proven Came Ozak PG speed gates for the installation with China Fleet Decals added to the glass panels on the gates and side panels.
In conjunction with this installation was the provision of Nortech DeltaQuest Access Control Units which interface seamlessly to the ESP Membership Database. Doors to the Gym, SPA, Changing Rooms and Box12 facility had readers and maglocks installed. The readers provided were NVite multi-functional readers to future proof the installation. Not only can these read the Mifare Wrist Bands bearing the China Fleet logo but they will also be able to read QR code or Digital Tags through NFC at a later stage.
The Came Ozak PG Speed Gates were chosen following the recent successful implementation of similar units at a busy College. They were able to be seen in action and be appraised prior to being chosen by the client for China Fleet Country Club.
